Farmers Market

Zubrod Stables is proud to announce the start of a farmers market, with fresh produce, meats, and eggs available to the community on a twice-weekly basis. Located in Prospect, Kentucky, just off US 42, at 3500 Locke Lane.

The farmers market is a result of a partnership with local farmer, and neighbor, David Ragsdale who saw the opportunity to provide local area residents with fresh, organic and pesticide-free vegetables and other items at a reasonable price. The one-acre garden is located on the back of Zubrod Stables and offers many seasonal vegetables – from lettuce and tomatoes, to leafy greens, corn and more.

The farmers market is set up at Zubrod Stables on Wednesdays during the spring, summer and early fall months. Items are also available for purchase on Saturdays across the street on Mayo Lane.

In addition to vegetables, there is also locally-raised beef, pork, chicken, and rabbit available, as well as farm fresh eggs.

  • Ground beef is sold by the pound for $5.00
  • Pork sausage is sold by the pound for $5.50
  • There are also beef steaks available for $12.00-16.00 per pound, or roasts for $6.00-8.00 per pound.

The beef is completely hormone and antibiotic-free. David keeps his cattle on a forage based diet, only feeding them small amounts of grain when necessary for important micro-nutrients they do not get from our grass, mostly kelp. The cattle are mostly shorthorns, and some are angus.

The pork is completely pasture raised, antibiotic and hormone free, and never fed paylean.

Please visit the Zubrod Stables Facebook page for weekly updates on what's freshly picked and ready for pickup. You may sign up on the board at the barn.

You may also text an order to David directly at 502-396-6533. Please include your name, order with quantity, and when you would like to pick it up.

Zubrod Stables and David Ragsdale are also now offering “Zu-Poo”! Zu-Poo is compost available for purchase by the gallon. Appointments are necessary for pickup. Please contact David directly.
