Zubrod Stables offers Saddle Seat riding lessons for all ages and experience levels. Inexperienced riders begin with private, 30-minute lessons learning to control their horse and the correct body position at the walk, trot, and canter. All lessons are $45 per lesson (tax included) and must be paid at the time of service. As riders advance, they may ride in a group lesson with other riders at their same level. Our advanced lessons focus on the fine points of performance and equitation.
We also offer double-saddle lessons. This offers the younger riders a chance to learn while riding with one of our instructors. This also allows riders to advance more quickly and offers more timid riders the extra confidence they need.
*Double saddle lessons are subject to availability.
All lessons are 30 minutes in length. Lesson fee is $45 (tax included) and must be paid at time of service. We take cash, check, or credit cards (3.5% service fee).
Lessons are taught Monday - Friday from about 2pm - 6pm. Saturday lessons are for show horse lessons.
If you are running late, please call and let us know. If you need to cancel your lesson, please do so 24 hours in advance. If you fail to cancel your lesson, you must pay for the lesson.
Please wear appropriate clothing. For beginners, this includes long pants (jeans or sweatpants) and shoes or boots with a hard, non-slick sole. Shorts are uncomfortable to ride in. Jodhpur pants and boots can be purchased at many places in the Louisville area.

Learn MoreThe Zu-Kru is the Zubrod Stables Youth Club. Riders of all ages and experience levels are invited to be a part of the Zu-Kru. Throughout the year, we host parties and go on outings. During Halloween, we have a barn party where kids team up to dress up the horses, bob for apples, have costume contests, and more. We do fun activities both on and off of the horses. We also work to raise money for various charities and support the American Saddlebred Horse Association.
Tournaments are available for all riders to participate in–show or academy–and give our students a chance to practice what they have been working on over the winter.
Learn MoreThe Zubrod Stables academy program is the best way to introduce a rider to the show ring. It allows a rider to become familiar with many different environments and teaches our students many life lessons about being a good sport and working hard to achieve their goals.
